Lori began a path in healthcare her senior year in high school becoming certified as a Nurse Assistant and EMT-A. Knowing she wanted to continue in the field she went on to earn her Bachelors of Art degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa. Hearing of the beauty Portland had to offer she packed up and headed west. After experiencing a very spiritual connection to massage she decided to continue her journey at East-West College of Healing Arts to earn her certificate and license in massage therapy.
Discovering Myofascial Release during her massage therapy studies she saw and felt first-hand the power of emotional cellular release. This prompted her to spend time over the next two years in Hawaii and Arizona working directly with John F. Barnes, world-renowned authority, visionary and author, to become an Advanced Myofascial Release Practitioner. Most recently she completed the Women’s Health Seminar, gaining essential knowledge for the holistic treatment of pelvic health symptoms and/or dysfunction. This therapy has helped her work through the most impactful tragedy of her life. As a result she hopes to bring that same powerful healing to anyone who is a survivor of physical and emotional trauma.
Through her education and experience, Lori uses Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, adult and infant Craniosacral Therapy, John Barnes Myofascial Release, Polarity Therapy and Acupressure to work with each client’s individual needs. Her specialties include chronic pain therapy, scar tissue release, abdominal work, headache treatments, pelvic balancing, deep tissue, fertility bodywork, prenatal massage, breech presentation therapy newborn Craniosacral therapy and relaxation massage.
Lori also holds a certification in Transpersonal Hypnotherapy through The Institute for Therapeutic Learning in Seattle, Washington. From there she went on to become certified as a HypnoBirthing® educator and a Fertility Consultant Hypnotherapist through The HypnoBirthing® Institute. She is passionate about supporting a conscious and joyful birth experience through knowledge and relaxation techniques taught in HypnoBirthing® Education classes. Combined with her tailored fertility bodywork therapy she is delighted to provide positive growth, changes and outcomes for those on the path of fertility and family. As a survivor of loss and infertility she has worked diligently to give others the support she has had to call upon in her own life.
Since the beginning of her career in 2001 Lori works diligently to bring the best possible therapeutic care to each and every person she works with, as well as spending time addressing at-home self-care to maintain the benefits of each session. Continuing to learn and be humbled by the potential in this field for health and wellness, she looks forward to becoming a member of your healthcare team.
